Sydney is a city that needs no introduction, yet, hidden within its vast richness of waterways is a very well kept secret, the fishing.
Sydney is arguably the greatest urban saltwater fishing destination in the world. Huge schools of pelagic fish inhabit these waters, for some or all of the year. The amazingly hard fighting, brawling Kingfish with its never give up attitude and dirty, line breaking tactics is a favoured species. Kingfish frequent structure or explode on the surface as they terrorise baitfish. Add to the mix the amazing leaps and fight of Australian Salmon, the hard fight of pacific or Watsons Bonito, Mac Tuna, Striped Tuna, Tailor (bluefish) Amberjack, Sampsonfish, Cobia and a host of other tropical and temperate species and you have a recipe for line burning fun.
Sydney has a 12 month fishery with Estuary Perch, Luderick and even the humble Mullet adding some extra spice to an already diverse fishery during the quieter shoulder seasons. Sydney Harbour alone has over 50 species of fish that can be caught.
Wether its the spectacular wilderness lined Broken Bay and Pittwater or the iconic Sydney Harbour, the fishing on offer in Sydney is simply fantastic.
