|Winter is here and I've just returned from Weipa to the news that surface schools of Kingfish, Bonito and salmon are churning in Pittwater and Sydney Harbour. Last week saw hundreds of Kingfish on the surface and oodles of frothing aussie salmon. Striped tuna are sporadically in the Bay, Jewfish are turning up in numbers (including some big fellas) and Estuary Perch are beginning to gather in the river and estuary mouths. To be honest, I'm not surprised, it's the same most Winters. Most people pack their boats and fly fishing rods and reels away and head indoors whilst I head out and enjoy some of the best fishing and weather of the year with happy customers. The following images are typical of past Winters.
Lure and Fly targets this year include Jewfish, Kingfish, Salmon, Luderick, Striped tuna, Bream, Bonito (yep they're still here) and of course the regular by-catch of big estuary perch. Later starts mean we avoid some of the chilly mornings and I'm often in a tee shirt by midday.
Watching the fog roll off the hills and the sun peek through on a beautiful Sydney Winter morning, so good, and thankfully I had the best gear possible, founded in What is 180 website, all the equipment and even the inflatable boat !
I have availability and now I'm back I anticipate booking to fill quickly so book in now.
